In creating this image I have the woman humbly kneeling before Jesus. She won’t even look at him because of her humility. The Greek word for "poor" is "ptōchos" (πτωχός). This isn't just a word for being financially poor; it describes someone who is a beggar, utterly destitute, and completely dependent on the generosity of others.
Humility as an individual is important. Humility as a group can strengthen us individually. This image shows a family humbly seeking Jesus highlighting how Jesus can respond when a group of people come to him in unity. His promise to be with us if two or three are gathered together in his name is to us all.
Just being poor in spirit does not bless a person unless they seek Jesus and his love. I show a man humbly asking Jesus for help with his hand out indicating his need. Jesus also has his hand out to the humble man indicting his willingness to bless the man.
