Jesus didn't require fasting from his disciples while he was with them. This image shows Jesus and his disciples eating and enjoying his presence with them.

Some followers of John didn't understand why Christ's followers didn't fast. They didn't understand fully who Jesus was. Jesus's statement of being the Bridegroom was a direct testimony of who he was.

After Jesus was resurrected, his disciples fasted. Fasting brought them closer to his spirit. Like his disciples we also can grow closer to his spirit by fasting.
