The Savior’s promise was not just words of comfort and companionship. In this image, Christ stands with His disciple, unseen yet present, placing His hand on his shoulder as the Spirit gives him strength. God’s help is not distant. It is personal. It speaks through us when we let Him in.
When Christ’s followers were brought before councils and rulers, He told them not to fear. The Spirit would give them words in that same hour. This image reminds us that God’s strength can speak through us when the world seems powerful and we feel small.
When the disciples faced trial and fear, Christ promised that divine light would come in their darkest hour. We, too, can trust that when we don’t know what to say or how to stand, the Spirit will guide us. The same light that strengthened the early disciples still shines on those who follow Him today.
